Dáin Ironfoot is lord of the Iron Hills. He came to the aid of Thorin Oakenshield during the Battle of the Five Armies at the end of The Hobbit. After Thorin's death, he became the King under the Mountain and dwelt in Erebor, meaning that his older self is also a hero for the Erebor faction. He is the Ring Hero for the Iron Hills faction.

Abilities

Dain iron hills lord ability.png Level 1: Rising Rage - Dain's rage increases with every attack against an enemy unit or hero. After five attacks, he deals damage in an area and gains +30% armor. After 10 attacks, his strikes throw enemies to the ground and he can't be knocked back. Rage fades after 20 seconds if Dain stops attacking. (Passive ability)

Rupturing strike.png Level 3: Rupturing Strike - Dain attacks a target spot with such strength that he cracks open the ground around him, knocking all nearby enemies off their feet. This leaves behind an area of ruptured territory, slowing enemies by 30%. Slow is doubled at full rage.

Dain mount ability.png Level 6: Mount/Dismount - While Dain is at full rage he can mount his boar for 30 seconds. The boar is not as fast as other steed but deals more trample damage. If Dain trample on ruptured territory he doesn't slow down.

Army of the iron hills.png Level 10: Army of the Iron Hills - Dain temporarily summons several battalions of Ironbreakers depending on his rage. On his boar, he summons Ram Riders instead. By default, Dain summons 2 battalions of reinforcements, at full rage, he summons 6 battalions.

Ring Mechanics

Dain iron hills lord ability.png Level 1: Consuming Hate - Driven mad by the whispering of the One Ring, Dain is slowly consumed by his frenzy and berserker rage. He is constantly in the maximum rage state. Dain no longer regenerates health outside of combat but heals with every attack. (Passive ability)

Rupturing strike.png Level 3: Rupturing Strike - Dain attacks target enemy with such strength that he cracks open the ground around him, knocking all nearby enemies off their feet. Leaves behind ruptured ground, slowing enemies by 30%. Slow is doubled at full rage.

Dain mount ability.png Level 5: Mount/Dismount - Dain briefly mounts his boar. It's not as fast as other steeds, but deals increased trample damage. Doesn't slow down when trampling enemies on ruptured territory.

Scorched earth.png Level 7: Scorched Earth - In his blind hatred of enemy, Dain bombards an area without any regard for friendly fire. Deals high damage to allies and enemies. The bombardment sets the earth on fire.

Dain defend the halls ability.png Level 10: Vendetta - Driven by the One Ring, Dain becomes completely blind with anger. He focuses all his hatred on a single enemy and takes all precautions to destroy him. Marks an enemy. As long as this enemy lives, Dain permanently loses health and has reduced armor values, but his movement speed and attack strength are greatly increased. If the enemy is killed, all enemies nearby cower in fear and Dain and allied heroes are fully healed.

Upgrades

Lord Dain can be given the following upgrades:
Mithril upgrade.png Mithril Coat - Requires some veterans to be sent into a Dwarven Forge. Dwarven heroes will then have the ability to purchase the Mithril Mail upgrade. The Mithril Mail gives Dwarven heroes extreme resistance to all damage. Changes Lord Dain Ironfoot's armorset to edainwarriorheroarmorupgrade. Cost: 500
