- "There are older and fouler things than Orcs, in the deep places of the world."
- —Gandalf
The Misty Mountains is a very diverse faction, divided into three different realms: Moria, Goblin-town and Gundabad. Its game style is aggressive and focused on horde tactics. The starting fortress is the largest realm, Moria, and offers three or four building plots with few available building options. Unlike other factions, however, the Misty Mountains can recruit pioneers who can free-dig anywhere on the map to the different realms.
The units of the Misty Mountains vary according the realm and offer different strengths and weaknesses. Each realm is represented by a specific hero, who emphasizes certain elements thereof. On settlements and outposts, wild creatures like Giants, Stone Trolls and Wargs can be recruited.
Strategic Points[]
Castle[]
The castle of the Misty Mountains is equipped with four building plots and eight defensive plots all around the outside. It doesn't posses any walls but all buildings are defended by goblin creeps. On the defensive plots the player can build Sentry Towers, simple ruined towers inhabited by archers that fire are nearby enemies.
Camp[]
The Moria camp is the smallest camp structure in the game, it possesses three building plots and three defensive plots.
Outpost[]
On outposts, the Misty Mountains can build either a Fissure, to recruit giants from, or a Moria Tunnel, similar to the Moria camp.
Settlement[]
On settlements, Misty Mountains can build Goblin, Stone-troll and Warg lairs, similar to the creep lairs that inhabit the map at the start of the game. From there they can recruit goblins, wargs and trolls.
Free Build[]
The unique feature of the Misty Mountains is their ability to partly free build on the map. Using pioneers they can dig tunnels to Gundabad and to Goblin-town bring additional forces to the field. The tunnels have a scaling cost, the first tunnel costs 250, the second 1000 and any tunnels beyond that cost 4000 resources to dig.
