Recruit the Messenger of the Iron Hills. Narin is permanently on a ram and so can trample enemy units. He is also necessary for the Scouts of the Iron Hills to be upgraded to the Ram Riders. Finally, he is able to purchase the Mithril Coat upgrade once a battalion of Veterans of Khazad Dûm has been sent into the Forge.
Abilities[]
Level 1: Dain's Messenger - Nearby Heroes, Heroic Units and Elite Units get +25% armour and gain experience 50% faster. This ability persists for 30 seconds after Narin has left. This ability can be activated to temporarily give Narin +35% speed. You can see the full list of units considered elite and heroic by this ability by clicking the show more button below.
Level 3: Ceasefire - Narin negotiates a truce. The selected hero or monster can not attack or be attacked for 30 seconds. Abilities cast while affected by truce take twice as long to reload.
Level 5: Battle Command - All Ram Riders in the target area gain +50% damage for 30 seconds but have their movement speed halved. If Narin is within the target area, the bonus also effects him.
Level 10: Alliance - Narin sends out a raven to offer support to an allied hero. The selected hero does not suffer damage for 10 seconds. The ability can be cast over the entire battlefield.
Upgrades[]
Narin can be given the following upgrades:
Mithril Coat - Requires some veterans to be sent into a Dwarven Forge. Dwarven heroes will then have the ability to purchase the Mithril Mail upgrade. The Mithril Mail gives Dwarven heroes extreme resistance to all damage. Changes Narin's armorset to edainwarriorheroarmormountedupgrade. Cost: 500

Strategy[]
While Dáin is used to support the regular units of the Iron Hills on the front line, Narin can use his speed to go from one side of the map to another and give different units his bonuses. His speed and Dáin's Messsenger allow him to support the trampling powers of the Ram Riders while Combat Command lets him increase their close combat skills. Truce can allow him to take a hero out of the fight, which can be the difference between victory and defeat. Finally, Alliance will allow Narin to rescue an allied hero if they are close to death, and his map-wide range for this ability can let him save anyone no matter where they are. Overall, Narin is used to support the heroic Ram Riders and other heroes in battle. However, a drawback to him being permanently mounted is that he is more vulnerable to pikemen. Therefore he must be used with caution to prevent being trapped.
