Mirkwood Palace Guards (Sindarin: Orbarthirryn Taur-nu-Fuin) are the late-game alternative to the Lórien Pikeguards for the Lothlórien faction. They can be recruited from the Mirkwood Outpost once you have built a Vault of the King on one of the build plots.

Mirkwood palace guards passive Defenders of Mirkwood - The Palace Guards are the elite defenders of Mirkwood and can turn enemy momentum against them. Any time a Palace Guard is trampled, all other nearby Palace Guards gain +50% armor, damage, and slow any additional enemy trampling 50% faster for 30 seconds. (Passive ability)

Lorien heavy armor Heavy Armor - This unit is equipped with heavy armor by default and cannot stealth when near trees. Other sources of stealth are not affected. (Passive ability)

Flank Defence - Pikemen are used to defending from all sides when battling against monsters and cavalry. As a result, they cannot be flanked. They take no extra damage from being flanked and deal full revenge damage regardless of the direction they get trampled from.

The Mirkwood Palace Guards have access to the following upgrades:
Lorien banner carrier Banner Carrier - This upgrade can only be given to a level 1 battalion and will promote it to level 2. At level 2 the battalion can regenerate units when out of combat. Cost: 200
Lorien forged blades Master Blades - Greatly increases the damage of this battalion and provides a damage bonus against monsters and cavalry. Cost: 500

All these upgrades must be bought at Forge before applying them to battalion.

Mirkwood Palace Guards serve as next level pikemen of Lothlórien. They prove deadly to all cavalry units that dare to trample them. During the late game they can be paired with other Lorien or Mirkwood units.
