The Siege Shield is a new support unit from 4.5 which helps the Gondor faction assault fortifications that are heavily defended by archers. They work very simply by protecting nearby units which are situated behind it using directional leaderships. The Siege Shield itself cannot attack and is vulnerable to melee attacks but completely immune to arrow fire.

Abilities[]

Halt bombardment Stop - The Siege Shield stops all current actions and remains at the current location until it is given another order.

Siege shield passive Siege Shield - The Siege Shield and all allied units behind it are immune to arrows from units, buildings and heroes. This buff only applies if there are enemies in front of the siege shield within range. Passive Ability

No Upgrades
This unit has no upgrades. This means that this unit can not gain any sort of permanent boost from upgrades found in either its palantir or from other units/heroes. If this is not the case, fill in the section following the format of other pages.


Strategy[]

The Siege Shield has immense potential when assaulting castles and camps that are heavily fortified with towers and archers. Their use can be a bit tricky, however, as they remain quite vulnerable to melee units. The trick is to be sure to keep your soldiers behind the Siege Shield as they will naturally outpace it. At the same time, you must keep the front of it clear to make sure your troops can get close enough to the enemy base before they start to take arrow damage. Careful hit and run tactics with cavalry can be a good strategy for defending the Siege Shield. A Siege Shield in the right place can be the difference between an entire battalion surviving, whether that is rushing an enemy base or retreating from it.
