"The howling of the wolves was now all round them, sometimes nearer and sometimes further off. In the dead of night many shining eyes were seen peering over the brow of the hill. ... At a gap in the circle a great dark wolf-shape could be seen halted, gazing at them. A shuddering howl broke from him, as if he were a captain summoning his pack to the assault. "
The Fellowship of the Ring

The Wolf Lair is a defensive and unit production structure built at Angmar's settlements. A couple of wolves stand guard outside it, ever ready to to assault enemies who venture too close. More wolves can be called from within the lair to fight Angmar's enemies.

Name Type Cost CP Cost Strong vs Shortcut

The Wolf Lair is a great settlement choice for building closer to the enemy base. Dire Wolves are quite cheap, even cheaper with 2 or more Mills, and they are especially good at harassing because of their great speed. In a strictly defensive sense, the Wolf Lair won't offer much of a fight as its guardians are few and easily killed by the right units. Furthermore, it doesn't spawn a Tribute Cart, so that can make it be a less attractive choice for your settlements.
